Aeromedical

All flight crewmembers should have a basic understanding of flight physiology and its impact on aviation operations. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has identified Human Factors as a cause in approximately 80% of all aviation accidents. Understanding the psychological and physiological factors in the aviation environment can greatly reduce the number of aviation incidents resulting from human factors.

All aviators should be familiar with environmental and situational factors that can impact the human body. Some of these factors include the atmosphere, gas laws, carbon monoxide, physiology of the ear, vision, orientation, stress, and fatigue. Ensuring that you are familiar with these areas will not only provide a safer flying environment but also better prepare you for your upcoming flight physical.
